Adult Group - Interpretations Bible Study
Weekly, Wednesdays, Sep-Dec, 9:00am, PCC Conference Room (except NOT the Wed before Thanksgiving)
Rev. Joel asks us to join him around a table to share what WE are seeing, hearing, thinking, and feeling from the Sunday scriptures. We open the time reflecting on last Sunday’s scripture and sermon. Then, we shift to helping Joel study the coming Sunday scripture. A sermon is not meant to be a monologue but a never ending conversation with one another and God. Join the conversation this fall!
The Scriptures for this fall will include the book of Job, the book of James, and various others like Isaiah, Joel, Luke, and John. All you need to bring is yourself and a Bible. (If you don’t have a Bible, we can give you one to use or keep!)
Adult Group - Spiritual Growth Group
Weekly, Thursdays, Sep-Nov, 7:30pm, PCC Conference Room
This group leans toward spiritual growth. How do we connect with Holy Spirit, feed our own spirit, and connect our spirits to one another? We use scripture and other resources to point us toward wholeness in body, mind, relationships, and communities.

The story of Job is not an easy one. What can we learn about God, life, and ourselves by reading and studying this amazing story of struggle, faithfulness, suffering, and redemption? We promise, spend this fall with us, and you will know yourself a little better, feel more connected to God, and will know you have real friends nearby. Sandee Trakat, an experience nurse and caregiver, provides this group space for anyone caring for loved ones and needing support themselves.
Sandee would love an email to let her know you are coming, but this group is always ope and welcome to those in need.

Rev. Joel leads us through this years PCUSA guided study, “Let Justice Roll Down”. God’s call is for loving justice. So why is our world still so torn apart by unjust systmes and structures, and what can we do about it today?

Adult Group - Faith Matters (Interracial Mens Group)
Monthly, 3rd Fridays, Sep-Nov, 6:30pm, BAD Alfred’s, 323 High Street, Chestertown, Back Room
Rev. Joel and Bishop Fisher (of Faith Life Church in Chestertown) colead this public interracial men’s group. Can we show the world there are no races, only one human race? What would happen if we could fully, finally dismantle all racism from the world. Big change starts with small steps, like these conversations and relationships.
No book, reading, or preparation needed. Just come!

Heron Point Circle
This monthly Bible study at Heron Point gathers residents and guests to a honest discussion of faith and life.. The group meets in the Activities Room, near the pool and fitness center, 4th Tuesdays at 1100am with Rev. Joel leading.
Faith Matters
This is an interracial men’s group between the men of Faith Life congregation in Chestertown and the Presbyterian Church. We give each other time, attention, and effort and commit to studying and working against any racism in our community. 3rd Fridays at 630pm at Faith Life Church on Calvert Street in Chestertown.
Pub Theology
Jesus loved sitting around a table with good food, new and old friends alike, a tall glass, and honest conversation about God and life. This group follows his lead. We gather at “The Retriever” on High Street in Chestertown at 600pm (1st and 3rd Tuesdays), We order food and drink and dive into this season’s book “The World is About to Turn.”
Interpretations Bible Study
This weekly Bible study takes on a book of the Bible and walks through verse by verse. With the help of commentaries, the original languages, and the wide experience of those at the table, Rev. Joel guides us to see the word come to life. Join us most Friday at 900am in the Conference Room.
Caregivers Group
This group is for anyone caring for loved ones, and needing support themselves. You spend so much time and energy supporting. Come, feel the support of others in the boat with you. Monthly.
Mens Fellowship Group
All men are welcome to study Philip Yancey’s book “The Jesus I Never Knew.” It’s a wonderful reflection on the person of Jesus, and together we will learn new things and unlearn some old things to help us be better disciples. Join us and bring a friend.
Spiritual Growth Group
After the contemplative worship of The Abbey at 700pm, this group gathers in the Conference Room at 730pm most Thursdays to study and discuss the infinite depth of God’s spirit, and the spirit in all of us.
Rev. Caitlan's Book Club
Rev. Caitlan happily hosts a deep authentic conversation. This winter/spring, the book will be “Wholehearted Faith” by Rachel Held Evans with Jeff Chu. The location rotates through volunteer homes, so email to get details.
Heron Point Circle
Fall 2023 - "Sacred Encounters," The 23-24 PW/Horizons Bible Study
This faithful group meets once a month, 4th Tuesdays, in the Activities Room, which is near the exercise room and pool on the 1st floor of the main building in Heron Point. (But hey, non Heron Point residents are welcome too!)
NOTE: We will NOT meet the 4th Tuesday in December, but will shift the Dec gathering to Tue Jan 2 instead.

This wonderful gathering of men studies a book of the Bible in depth with one another, and we find it reads us more than we read it. Friendships grows, as does understanding of one another and ourselves.
Micah 6 Group
Fall 2023 - "Red Letter Christians: A Citizen's Guide to Faith & Politics" by Tony Campolo, 2013
This NEW group focuses on social, cultural, and political issues of our time through a Kin-dom lens. We hope to hold onto one another, be honest and vulnerable with one another, and open ourselves to truths that may not fit what we’ve felt or thought before. We meet weekly, Sundays, after worship and fellowship in the Green Room, in a corner of the Sanctuary near the side entrance to the Memorial Garden.

Fall 2023 - Interpretations Bible Study, Exodus
This group focuses on reading and studying one book of the Bible at a time. With the pastor’s help, we study chapters and verses, unpack the Greek and Hebrew, and learn the history and context around the authorship of each. We meet weekly, Friday mornings, in the Conference Room in the Administration wing
Spiritual Growth Group
Fall 2023 - "Reaching Out" by Henri Nouwen
This group focuses most on the Spiritual Growth of each individual. We find resources that help us remember the spark of God that created each of us, and still hums at our center. We meet weekly, Thursdays, in the Conference Room at the church.

Fall 2023 - "You Are Changing the World" by David Lamotte
Pub Theology is about honest theological conversation over in a casual public setting, with good food and drink on the table, just like Jesus used to do it. We meet twice a month, 1st and 3rd Tuesdays only, from 600-730pm at The Retriever Bar on High Street in Chestertown.
Faith Matters, an Interracial Mens Group
Fall 2023 - "Who We Are - A Chronicle of Racism in America" a Netflix documentary film
Rev. Joel Tolbert of PCC and Bishop Ron Fisher of Faith Life Church co-moderate this intentionally interracial conversation. We are growing relationships and mutual understanding as we honestly confront the racism in our history and culture, with hopes of being one human race again. We meet monthly, 3rd Fridays, from 600-730pm. Aug and Oct are at PCC, and Sep and Nov are at Faith Life.

Maundy Thursday Soup Supper and Worship
Jesus met in an upper room, broke bread, then was arrested and crucified. On this special night at the end of Lent, we gather for an potluck Soup Supper at 600pm. Bring a soup to share, or a bread to break. Then at 700pm, we tell the story of Jesus’ last moments, and wait for Easter resurrection.
Men’s Fellowship: Mere Christianity
In the classic Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis, the most important writer of the 20th century, explores the common ground upon which all of those of Christian faith stand together.
