Youth
The youth are not just the “future” of the church, they are also the PRESENT. In this church, youth are worship leaders, ordained Deacons, mission leaders, and sometimes preachers. We also set aside dedicated times for youth to be with one another in fellowship, play, study, and service.
Youth Group - “Light & Love”
Teens need time and space (and encouragement) to question, explore, and grow in faith. We provide an environment and various experiential, contemplative, and relational opportunities. 6th-12th grade students are invited to explore faith, God, the meaning of our lives, and how to live as followers of Christ. Gatherings follow the school year, taking a break for the summer. We nurture an inclusive, open-minded, and diverse community together, including youth who may or may not have a connection to this church or any church.
In Youth Group, we study the Bible, discuss current events, pray, practice spiritual disciplines, serve the church and community, build relationships, and play!
Camps & Conferences
Every Summer, our Middle School Youth attend Massanetta Middle School Conference, a Presbyterian youth event. Massanetta Springs Middle School Conference is a transformational program that welcomes hundreds of middlers and their leaders from all over the country each summer. Participants attend keynotes, recreation, workshops, and worship designed by the Advocates (high school leaders) with Middlers in mind. Encounter Groups provide an opportunity to reflect and learn alongside youth from other places, led by Advocates.
Our High School Youth took forward to attending Montreat Youth Conference, another Presbyterian youth event. Montreat Youth Conference affirms youth in their calling to be the church and to shape the church. Youth come to a place where authenticity, community, connection, and God’s truth thrive. Montreat is an inclusive space where each voice can be heard and where each heart can be molded; where change is invited, challenge is expected, and where all are embraced. Youth leave Montreat knowing their faith matters, they are loved as they are and they are part of a community of faith.
Confirmation
Sometimes, a youth is ready to accept the calling of faith. The Confirmation Class is when baptized youth learn and express their own faith. Youth also learn more about what it means to be a servant leader, and discern how they wish to be active in the body of Christ. Every youth confirmand chooses an adult faith partner for their confirmation journey. Rev. Caitlan plans and schedules these moments as needed.
