The Presbyterian Church of Chestertown is an incredibly “mission-minded” congregation. From the beginning, the church has strived to be sensitive to the gospel mandate to care for those who are less fortunate.
In addition, the church generously supports the work of the Presbyterian Church (USA) overseas. Of particular significance is the “partnership” that has existed since 2005 with the Presbyterian Church in Matiki, Malawi. Dozens of members of PCC have visited Matiki, and we have hosted several visits to Chestertown by pastors and members of that congregation.
Globally we connect with neighbors and partners around the world through:
- Malawi Partnership with the congregation of Matiki CCAP (Church of Central Africa Presbyterian) in Dwangwa, Malawi
- “Rise Against Hunger” food packaging events
- “Gifts of the Heart” School and Health Kits (Church World Service)
Throughout May and June, the Mission Committee will focus on our partners in Malawi. For many years we have offered Mother’s Day cards, to support the purchase of malaria nets, and Father’s Day cards, to provide metal roofs and keep homes dry. The tradition continues as does the need. Cards will be available in the Fellowship Hall from May 2 through June 20. There is a suggested donation, but not a required one. Contact the church office to purchase a card by mail.
