Caitlan Quinn Gartland,
Associate Pastor


Caitlan joined PCC in May 2012 as the Director of Youth Ministry. In June 2014, following her graduation from seminary, her role was expanded to Pastoral Assistant for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. In November 2015, Caitlan was ordained and installed as the Associate Pastor of PCC (the first A.P. at PCC!).

Caitlan grew up on her family's farm in Warwick, MD. After high school she attended College of Notre Dame of Maryland where she received a BA in Religious Studies and played field hockey. She received her Master of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary in May 2014. Caitlan is also the Administrative Assistant for the family farm.

Most of Caitlan's free time is spent with a field hockey stick in hand. She is a field hockey coach for both a high school and club team based in Cecil County, MD and she continues to play in adult field hockey leagues year-round.

John Ames, Parish Associate

John is a retired Presbyterian minister who serves part time on our staff, concentrating in the areas of Adult Education, and assissting in pastoral care and worship leadership. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi (BA), Union Theological Seminary (BD), and Duke University (PhD). He was ordained in Bethesda, Maryland and served Presbyterian congregations there and in Lyndhurt, New Jersey, Louisville, Kentucky, and East Hampton, New York before "retiring" to Chestertown. In addition to his work at PCC he is a member of the Chester River Chorale and serves on the boards of Washington College "Academy of Lifelong Learning," the Samaritan Group, and the Historic District Commission of Chestertown. He and his wife Gillian have three adult children and three grandchildren.

Alison Halsey -Interim Consultant

The Reverend Doctor Alison Halsey began as PCC's Interim Consultant in September of 2018.

Her impressive resume includes a B.A. in Elementary Education, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Doctorate of Ministry in Counseling from Colgate Rochester Theological Seminary, senior pastorates at University Presbyterian Church in Buffalo, NY, and at First and Franklin Streets in Baltimore, MD. She has just completed two interim positions with churches in the Baltimore Presbytery, after which she and her husband moved to Wilmington, where they anticipated retirement!


Alison and her husband, The Reverend Doctor William Hathaway, have two married sons and two granddaughters. In their leisure time they enjoy hiking, kayaking, beach walking, travel, and camping. Alison also enjoys Navajo and tapestry weaving.


Her responsibilities at PCC include chairing the Mission Study, a required first step before a Pastor Nominating Committee can be selected, moderating Session meetings, meeting with congregation leaders, preaching at least one Sunday each month, and working to prepare the congregation to receive a new pastor. In this last capacity, she will be working with Tom Speers, our liaison to the Presbytery Committee on Ministers and Congregations (COMC). Alison will be in the office one day per week, in addition to two Sundays each month.

Terri Gloyd, Director of Christian Education

 Terri is the eldest of 5 children in an Irish- Italian family. She is married (for 34 years!) to Charlie Gloyd and has 2 grown children, Meghan and Marc. Their family has been in Kent County for 23 years.


Terri has spent her entire life teaching others. She has been formally trained at University of Delaware, Towson State, Loyola and UMBC in the field of Elementary Education, but her real learning has come from those whom she serves and from those with whom she serves! She has taught children in regular and special education classrooms in Cecil and Queen Anne's County, Maryland for 36 years from the grades of K through 8. She also taught at Washington College as an adjunct professor of education. Terri is currently a Math Specialist at Sudlersville Elementary School.

Terri is in her tenth year at PCC as a part time DCE and is working towards denominational certification as a Christian educator. She loves music, gardening and cooking. She is learning to play the cello and has played many instruments including the piano, handbells, bassoon, clarinet, and guitar. In the garden, she loves to mow the grass and tend the vegetables. She truly enjoys fixing meals from the seasonal produce of her harvest and other local growers.




Bennett Kate

Kate Bennett, Music Director

Kate Bennet has been organist at PCC since 2004 and Music Director since 2007. Kate earned her BA in Music from Washington College in 1990, graduating cum laude with Music Department honors. She was the music and drama teacher and choral director/accompanist at Kent School from1996-2018. Kate was composer, singer, and guitarist for the band "Cowboy Jazz" from 1979-1989, and with them recorded two albums on the Rounder Record label. Kate enjoys acting and performing, and she has been musical director and accompanist for both Washington College and community theatre productions. Kate directs PCC's Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir as well as the children's Music Camp in July. Kate lives in Chestertown with her dear golden doodle, Woody.
